qPCR Dust DNA Test –
Screening for Concealed Mould

“Accurate detection of hidden mould through simple dust sampling.”

Worried about hidden mould in your home or workspace?

You’re not alone – most mould problems aren’t visible. That’s why we’ve partnered with HouseTest to offer an accurate, easy-to-use mould testing kit. The Dust DNA Test that helps detect concealed mould growth, without ripping into walls or floors. By analysing a simple dust sample, this test can uncover what your eyes can’t see – giving you clarity, peace of mind, and a clear next step.

Mould Testing Kit – How It Works:

1. Collect Sample: Use the provided swab to gather dust from surfaces like door frames or shelves.
2. Send for Analysis: Place the sample in the test tube and mail it to HouseTest’s laboratory.
3. Receive Results: Obtain detailed findings on mould presence and severity.

Why Choose This Test

  • Once samples are received by the lab, reports are typically available within 24 hours/ 1 full working day.
  • Non-invasive and easy to use
  • Includes pollen analysis in every sample, helping to distinguish between actual mould issues and low cleaning levels.
  • Provides insights into contamination severity and species.
  • Instead of simply providing raw data, the DNA HouseTest delivers a clear, easy-to-understand report to help identify the level of mould problem you are dealing with.
  • Detects hidden mould growth
  • The test uses a mould database built exclusively from Northern European reference samples, ensuring results are accurate and relevant to local environments as US mould species can differ slightly.
  • Suitable for both professionals and homeowners

Why Early Detection Matters

Mould is often hidden, but its impact on your health can be significant. Left unchecked, it can trigger a range of serious conditions including Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS) especially in those who are genetically susceptible. The good news is that identifying and removing mould early can prevent long-term illness before it takes hold.

Think of it like catching a small leak before it becomes a flood. Early detection through at-home testing gives you the power to uncover hidden contamination and act quickly, protecting both your health and your home. Taking action now can save you years of chronic illness and costly remediation down the line.

What’s Included in the Kit:

Common Questions

How do I choose which room/ rooms to test?

The sample should be taken as centrally as possible in the building, which could be in hallways or kitchen areas. However, if there is suspicion of mold growth in a specific area, such as a room, the sample should be taken there.

How do I know if I need more than one swab?

Due to the high sensitivity and precision of DNA analysis, a single sample can be used to test a single-story house of up to 150m2 if the sample is taken centrally in the building and there is an opening between the individual building parts. In larger buildings, one sample should be taken per 150m2 , and in buildings with multiple floors, one sample should be taken per floor.

How soon will I receive my results?

HouseTest analyzes the sample at their laboratory the same day, once they receive it by mail they will send the results to the email you provided when ordering.

What should I do if my test detects mould?

If the analysis result shows signs of mould growth in the tested building, the analysis report will include information on indoor climate consultants who can help you further. Choose a consultant and send them the report with the test results. They will assess the extent of the problem and advise on the next steps, including how to remove the mould and prevent new growth.

How does the test detect hidden mould?

Mould often grows hidden in the building’s structures, which means that the mold cannot be found with traditional methods unless destructive openings are made in the building. However, even though the mold grows hidden, it will release fungal spores and microparticles into the indoor environment, where they collect in the dust and can thus be measured with HouseTest’s DNA analysis.

What should I do if I think my sample was taken in the wrong place?

If you are concerned that your sample was taken in an inappropriate location, please call us. If we determine that the sample was taken incorrectly, we will send you a new swab free of charge.
